Thomas E. Mayse, 70

Mr. Thomas E. Mayse, 70, of Bostic, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Charles George VA Medical Center Hospice Unit, Asheville.
He was the son of the late Sidney and Mildred Mayse, and was also preceded in death by his brother, Dean Mayse. Tommy owned and operated Thomas Mayse Trucking for over 40 years, and in the world of trucks - he was a Peterbilt man. He had hundreds of friends from his years on the road, and many knew him by his CB handle of  "Applejack". He served in the US Army in Vietnam and was awarded 3 commendation medals.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Larson Mayse; his stepdaughters, Amanda Skinner of Rutherfordton, Linda King of Star City, AR, and Cathy Williams of Chesnee; a stepson, Gary Russell of Chesnee; and a step grandson, Jeff Skinner.
The Funeral will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, May 6, 2019 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Scott Bradley, Mark Hudson, Bobby Davis, Ronald Wilson, Derrick Wilson, and Steve Whitesides.
The Visitation will be from 4 pm until 6 pm Sunday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
