Thelma Phillips McCurry

Mrs. Thelma Phillips McCurry, 87, of Centennial Road, Union Mills, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
A native of Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Nannie Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willard McCurry; a son, John McCurry; a grandchild, Carolyn Waters; two brothers and one sister. She was a member of Centennial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son Joe McCurry and his wife Margaret, of Unions Mills; a daughter, Lillie Boyles and her husband Barry, of Vale, NC; a grandson, Charles McCurry and his wife Jane, of Ellenboro; two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The Funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Centennial United Methodist Church. Rev. Carl Ramsey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Visitation will be from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM Saturday at the church prior to the service, and at other times will be the home of Joe McCurry on Centennial Road, Union Mills.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centennial UMC Cemetery Fund, % of Robert Guffey, 1491 Centennial Road, Union Mills, NC 28167.
