Mr. Steve Toms, 74, of Walker Dairy Road, Bostic, died Monday, September 17, 2012 at Hospice House, Forest City.
He was the son of the late Sim and Nell Burgin Toms, was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Padgett Toms. He was a US Army Veteran, and was a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service with 30 years of service. He loved his family, his friends, the outdoors, music, reading, cooking, and his dogs.
He is survived by three daughters, Dena Heafner and her husband Steve, of Ellenboro, Dr. Michelle Toms-Greene and her husband Tim, of Rutherfordton, and Melanie Cox and her husband Doug, of Chattanooga, TN; a brother Johnny Toms of Ellenboro; eight grandchildren, Christina Heafner Allred and her husband Carlton, Michael Shannon Heafner, Traci Heafner Burnett and her husband Chad, Katherine Cox, Elisabeth Cox, Abigail Cox, Timothy Greene and his wife Rachelle, and Crystal Greene Margolin and her husband Laz; eight great grandchildren, Christian Greene, Shelby Greene, Caroline Greene, Savanna Greene, Ainsley Allred, Haleigh Allred, Lazarus Margolin, and Russell Margolin.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home. Rev. Max Burgin will officiate.
The Visitation will be from 7 pm until 9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home after the Memorial Service, at other times the family will gather at Steve's residence on Walker Dairy Road, Bostic.
