Shirley Jackson Walker

Mrs. Shirley Jackson Walker, 72, of Forest City, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Hospice House, Forest City.
She was the daughter of the late Ben and Carol Wilson Jackson, and was also preceded in death her sister, Margie Wells; her brother Everette Jackson; and two infant brothers, Clifford and Clyde Jackson. She was a 1958 graduate of R.S. Central High School and graduated with a B.S. in Music Education in 1962 at Applachian State. She taught in Regensburg, Germany in the US Army Elementary School; in the Baltimore County Schools, Rutherford County Schools, and the St. Francis Episcopal Church Kindergarten. She was a Baptist, and served as Music Director at Green River Baptist Church, Camp Creek Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, Southern Baptist Church, and Spindale Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Walker; her daughter, Carol Dorsey and her husband Kent, of Bostic; two sisters, Vergie Pittman of Rutherfordton, and Frances Robbins of Forest City; there are 29 nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Southern Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Ruppe and Rev. Clay Earle will officiate. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Friday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
