Sandy Hollifield, 80

Sandra Wright Hollifield, 80, of the Sunshine Community, Bostic, went home to the Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

Our mom was born in Shelby, NC on January 2, 1943. She was the daughter of the late George Benjamin "Ben" Wright and Lillian Grigg Wright. She had one sister, Faye Wright Towery who preceded her in death.

Mom is survived by a family that she loved unconditionally. Her 3 children and their spouses, all of whom she considered her kids also, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild; Wade Hollifield and Susan Hollifield, their son Seth, their daughter Grace Jenkins and her husband Dylan Jenkins, and great grandaughter Lottie Jenkins; Mark Hollifield and Angie Hollifield, their son Austin and fiancee Blakely Henline, their daughter Montana Hollifield and her fiancee Storm Mace; Emily Peeler and her husband Chris Peeler, their son  Zane Peeler, and their daughter Lilli Peeler; she will also be missed by her constant, purring companion, Jocie.

Although our mom did not grow up here, she was a longstanding member of the community. She was most proud of the 44 years she spent as secretary at Sunshine Elementary School. We all felt like we had the best mom in the world but that we shared her with multiple generations of the Sunshine community. She loved all those kids and loved what she did for all those years. Everyone who ever went there, or had a child that did, remembers her smile and heard her answer the phone and say, "Sunshine School, this is Sandy" and make it sound like music. 

Mom loved the Lord and lived a life that shared her strong faith through her actions everyday. 

Our mom will be missed by her family that loved her dearly and by the friends and community that she loved.

A Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday at Washburn  & Dorsey Funeral Home. At other times, the family will gather at Sandy's home. 

A private burial will be held at a later date.
