Mr. Samuel Chivous Waters, 80, of E. Butler Road, Ellenboro, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Hospice House, Forest City.
He was the widower of Ruby May Waters, and son of the late Tess and Eva Harrison Waters. He was a Korean Army Veteran and worked at Stonecutter. He will be remembered best for his many years of service as a Deputy for the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department. He was also a former member of Rutherford County Rescue Crew, and was former member and board of directors member of the Cherry Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his daugther, Myra Bridges of Ellenboro; a son, Marvin Waters of Ellenboro; two sisters, Ruth Pope of Bostic, and Billie Sue Newton of Forest City; three grandchildren, Travis Moore, Tiffany Moore, and Phillip Waters; and several great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 Am Friday, June 3, 2011 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jim Johnston will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
The Visitation will be from 6 PM until 8 PM Thursday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home, with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard serving in honor and memory of Mr. Water's service to that department.
