Mrs. Phyllis Jean Hollifield, 75, of Bostic, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Hospice House, Forest City.
She was the widow of Norman Max "Hoss" Hollifield, and the daughter of the late Paul and Zula Pate Jones. Phyllis Jean was a member of Sunshine United Methodist Church where she served since the 1960's as pianist and organist and served in many capacities in her dedication to the church. She worked for over 45 years in the insurance field with NC Farm Bureau, R. Douglas Dorsey Agency, Kinzie-Hardin Agency, Hardin Agency, and Maxwell Hamrick Agency. Each year Phyllis Jean prepared a calendar writing down birthdays and anniversaries. Not only did she send birthday and anniversary cards each month, she sent get well wishes, sympathy, new births, weddings, thinking of you and Christmas cards. She considered this her "ministry". Her hobby was her music, whether she was playing the piano or just listening to it.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonita H. Houser of Bostic; her son, Evan Max Hollifield of Bostic; her brother, Boyce Jones and his wife Joann, of Forest City; 4 grandchildren, Brent N. Huckabee and his wife Jesi, Brad H. Huckabee and his wife Christy, Leslie H. Starnes and her husband Josh, and Heather Lynn Huckabee; 2 great grandchildren, Tanner Kyle Huckabee, and Brenley Jean Huckabee; a nephew, Eddie and his wife Lisa; and two great nieces, Taylor J. Waters and Allyson Jones.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Sunshine United Methodist Church. The Rev. Lee Ellis and the Rev. Keyes Pendleton will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Eric Dukes, Johnny Pate, Don Huckabee, John Smith, Jared Lane, and Donnie Tessnear.
The Visitation will be from 5 pm until 8 pm Friday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.
