Mr. Paul Mayse, 93, formerly of Forest City, died Friday, April 20, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel McDade Mayse, and was the son of the late Orson and Alma Lewis Mayse. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Theodore, Mal and Amos, and his sister Ruth. Paul was a retired carpenter and a veteran of World War II where he served in the US Army as a Sergeant in the Co.B, 740th Tank Battalion and earned a Purple Heart at the Battle of the Bulge.
He is survived by two daughters, Myra Mayse Ford and her husband Wayne, of Greensboro, and Marcha Beheler and her husband Marshall of Shelby; a son, Michael Mayse and his wife Janet, of Burlington; a sister, Lillian Johnson of Rutherfordton; two sisters-in-law, Mary Mayse and Mary Francis Mayse; there are six grandchildren, Michelle Beheler Riffey and her husband Travis, Simonne Hendricks and her husband Clint, Paul Goode and his wife Dana, Eva Goode, Elizabeth Lewis and her husband Artie, and Matthew Mayse.and his wife Molly; there are eight great grandchildren, Peyton Lewis, Emery Lewis, Ashley Simione, Keeley Hendricks, Harrison Mayse, Michael Mayse, Gavin Goode, and Griffin Goode.
The Funeral will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, April 23, 2012 at Wilson Baptist Church, 3617 Whiteside Road, Forest City. Rev. Troy Dorsey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
The Visitation will be from 11:45 am until 12:45 pm Monday at the church prior to the service.
