Mr. Oscar George Murray, age 87, of Sunshine, died Friday, June 27, 2003 at Rutherford Hospital.
He was the son of the late George & Carrie E. Street Murray. He was a native of Rutherford County and a retired farmer and carpenter. A member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church, and a member of the Rutherford County Cattleman's Association, where he was named Cattleman of the Year in 1985. Mr. Murray was preceded in death by a son, Donald Harold Murray,Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Sanders Murray, One daughter, Pat Robbins, and her husband Joe, of Sunshine, one son Norman Murray, and his wife Marcella, of Sunshine. Two step brothers, Lloyd Murray of Shelby and Clifford Murray of Forest City. Eleven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 PM Sunday, June 29, 2003 at Mount Harmony Baptist Church. Rev. Jamie Hamrick and Rev. Alan Beane will officiate. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm Saturday evening at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home. At other times the family will gather at the home of the daughter, Pat Robbins, at 331 Luckadoo Road, Sunshine (Bostic 28018).
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30329.
