Norman Ray Padgett, Sr., 85, of Ellenboro, died Saturday, March 29, 2025.
He was the widower of Freda Mae Brown Padgett, and a son of the late Walter "Bus" Padgett and Cordie Goforth Padgett. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Gossett. Norman served for many years as Sheriff's Deputy with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department, and also with Rutherford County Animal Control.
He is survived by his sons, Jason Padgett and his wife Michelle, and Roger Padgett and his wife Lisa, all of Ellenboro, and Norman Padgett, Jr. of Arizona; a stepdaughter, Sherri Silver and her husband Scott, of Rutherfordton; his stepsons, Jerry Clyde Whiteside and his wife Norma, Jody Wright and his wife Allison, all of Forest City; and John Whiteside of Bostic; a sister, Diane Hewitt of Forest City; Jadyn Padgett, Kendall Padgett, Clint Whiteside and his wife Taylor, Amanda Whiteside, Jacob Whiteside, Mindy Henderson and her husband Drew, Ashley Wright, Jay Wright, Matthew Stacey, Chancy Gossett, and Megan Gossett; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:30 pm Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at First Baptist Bostic Cemetery. The Rev. Clay Earle will officiate. Pallbearers are Clyde Whiteside, David Causby, Clint Whiteside and Jacob Whiteside.
The Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Wednesday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home
