Nell Melton, 89, of Forest City, died Friday, May 3, 2024.
She was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Darcus Hollifield Melton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Dorsey and a grandson, Josh Dorsey. Nell retired from Doncaster-Tanner after many years there and had worked at Cato's in Rutherfordton. She was a member of Sunshine United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Dorsey and his wife Michelle, of Moncks Corner, SC and Kent Dorsey and his wife Carol, of Bostic; there are 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Sunshine Church Cemetery. The Rev. Keys Pendleton and Rev. Randy Church will officiate and her lifelong friend Linda Willis Robinson will provide a Eulogy. Washburn & Dorsey staff members Michael Sersland, Mark Winslow, Sammy Greene, Neil Higgins, Bill Yount and Travis Hamby will serve as pallbearers. 
There will not be a formal visitation, but friends may come by Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home from 2 pm until 5 pm Monday, May 6, 2024 to sign the register book. 
Memorials may be made to the Rutherford Humane Society, PO Box 998, Rutherfordton, NC 28139, or the Community Pet Center, 861 Piney Ridge Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
