Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Crotts) Mayse, in her 100th year, was greeted into the arms of her Lord on the morning of Thursday, April 23, 2015 at White Oak Manor, Rutherfordton.
She was the widow of James Theodore Mayse, with whom she enjoyed 65 years of marriage until his passing in 1998. She was the daughter of the late Porter H. and Lucy Jane Freeman, and was also preceded in death by four brothers, A.W. Crotts, Charles H. Crotts, Kenneth P. Crotts, and Thad H. Crotts; and three sisters, Annie Lee Ireland, Geneva Langley, and Nellie Crotts. In addition to raising their family, tending their farm, and supporting their church, both Mary and Theodore were employed at Stonecutter Mills, where Mary worked for 32 years before her retirement.
Mrs. Mayse is survived by her foster daughter, Margaret Morrison and her husband Yates, of Bostic; two grandchildren, Bruce Earley and his wife Beverly, of Rutherfordton, and Brenda Mast and her husband Gary, of Dublin,PA; two great grandchildren, Joseph and Julie; and four great great grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, cherished friends from her community, and her church family at Wilson Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 80 years.
The Funeral will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, April 27, 2015 at Wilson Baptist Church. The Rev. Troy Dorsey and the Rev. John Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Forest City. Honorary pallbearer is Yates Morrison, and active pallbearers are Bruce Earley, Joseph Earley, Rusty Freeman, Tommy Freeman, Gary Mast and Jerry Smith.
The Visitation will be from 3 pm until 5 pm Sunday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service in Bostic.
