Martha Louise Bumgarner, 83

Mrs. Martha Louise Fowler Bumgarner, 83, of NC Hwy 226, Golden Valley, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
She was the widow of Lero Bumgarner, and daughter of the late Robert and Eva Fowler. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Hurdt, 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She was retired from Drexel Manufacturing was a charter member of Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Circle.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Dorothy Hurdt of Golden Valley, Martha Self and husband David, of Bostic, Darlene Wilson and husband Dane, of Hicks Grove Community, and Vonda Kay Powell and husband Rodney, of Dysartsville; 4 sons, Tommy Bumgarner and wife Joyce, and Ricky Bumgarner and wife Paula, all of Golden Valley, Joe Dean Bumgarner and wife Amy, of Hickory, and Michael Bumgarner and wife Lisa, of Bostic; a sister, Sue Smith of Hickory; there are 27 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren.
The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church. The Rev. Lamar Hewitt, Rev. Danny Bumgarner and Rev. Sam Henderson will officiate. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow at the church cemetery on Cemetery Road with the Rev. Kenneth Kanipe officiating. Pallbearers are Joe Wilson, Jerry Self, Chad Wilson, Dennis Hurdt, Jody Bumgarner, Curtis Powell, Joey Bumgarner, Timmy Wilson, Roger Bumgarner, and Josh Bumgarner.
The Visitation will be Friday from 4 pm until 8 pm at the Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church, at other times the family will gather at the residence on NC Hwy 226 in Golden Valley.
