Lucy Saunders Hollifield

Mrs. Lucy Saunders Hollifield, 84, of Bostic, died Thursday evening, April 11, 2013 at Hospice House, Forest City.
She was the widow of Robert Gettys Hollifield and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Gracie Bolinger Saunders, and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy Saunders and Odas Saunders; also two sisters, Catherine Brown and Eula Saunders. She received her Nursing Degree from Grace Hospital in Morganton and was a nurse at Rutherford Hospital for 30 years, and also worked at Dr. George Becknell's practice. She was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church where she was in the choir and active in the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Brackett and her husband Mickey, of Boiling Springs, SC; two sons, Andy Hollifield and his wife Cathy, and Steve Hollifield and his wife Janet, all of Sunshine; a brother, Raymond Saunders of Morganton; there are five grandchildren, Suzanna Brackett Vanderver, Daniel Brackett, Kristin Hollifield, Kaila Hollifield, and Rachel Hollifield; there are three great grandchildren, Jacob Vanderver, Sadie Vanderver, and Lyla Kate Vanderver.
The Funeral will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Rev. Cindy Lunsford will officiate and Rev. Donald Lovelace will provide a Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alan Hollifield, Jimmy Saunders, Kenneth Saunders, Roger Hollifield, Doyle Hollifield, and Richard Carpenter.
The Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 3:45 pm Sunday at Cedar Grove UMC Fellowship Hall.
