Lola Freeman, 95

Ms. Lola Mae Hutchins Freeman, 95 of Bostic, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 in her home.

She was born April 17, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Julius Memory Hutchins and Lora Lookadoo Hutchins.

Lola was a long time, faithful member of Cedar Grove Church in Sunshine. She served in several offices of the church, was a member of the United Methodist Women and served as President for many years. Lola assisted with cooking and serving many delicious meals for church and community events and was responsible for cleaning the church for fifty years. Lola was a faithful servant of the Lord.  Lola helped raise many neighborhood children, and church children over the years and truly loved her neighbors. She loved cooking, gardening, flowers, walking, feeding the birds, and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Lola retired from Kemet Electronics of Shelby, NC.

In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband and sweetheart of 70 years, “Bob” Bobby Cannie Freeman, her sisters Doris Hutchins Huntsinger, Carie Hutchins Smawley, and Margaret Hutchins Bennick, and her brother Carl Monroe Hutchins.

She is survived by her children in love Benson Freeman, Amanda Penson Freeman, Sonny Penson, and Crystal Penson; her grandchildren Creedence Taylor Freeman, Ranger Phoenix Freeman, Jacob Norris Penson, and Emma Dawn Penson; her special friend and neighbor Diane Melton Penson all of Bostic; and her very dear friend Daisy Mae Ramsey of Shelby, NC.

The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Cedar Grove Church. Pastor Jason Harris will officiate and there will be a Eulogy by Amanda Freeman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Benson Freeman, Sonny Penson, Creed Freeman, Ranger Freeman, Jacob Penson, Larry Pope, Drake Johnson, Bryce Johnson, and Curtis Huntsinger. 

The Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
