Leonard Bumgarner
Mr. Leonard Bumgarner, 75, of Forest City, formerly of Golden Valley, died Saturday, January 8, 2011.
He was son of the late John Henry and Huldah Smith Bumgarner. He retired as a Quality Control Manager with Drexel Heritage in Morganton after 40 years of service, and later worked at Hardin Trucking and retired there after 10 years of service. He was a member of Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church, where he had served as a trustee, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and a Missionary. Leonard also served with the Forest City Camp of the Gideons International.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Self Bumgarner; two sons, David Bumgarner and his wife Sandy, of Golden Valley, and Jeff Bumgarner of Golden Valley; a sister, Lizzie Ellington of Golden Valley; a brother, D.C. Bumgarner of Golden Valley; and three granchildren, John Bumgarner and his wife Megan, Cody Bumgarner, and Charlie Bumgarner.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 14, 2011 at Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church. Rev. Lamar Hewitt, Rev. Troy Dorsey, Rev. Frank Hoyle, and Rev. Landon Rice will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Visitation will be from 4:30 PM until 7 PM Thursday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
