Laurence T. "Larry" Davis

Mr. Laurence T. "Larry" Davis, 67, of Weatherstone Drive, Forest City, died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
He was the son of the late V. Teal and Evangeline Poteat Davis. Larry was a member of Florence Baptist Church, and worked in plastic injection molding for over 30 years. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School and Pembroke State University. He was inducted into the East Rutherford Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. Larry was a softball and basketball player, fisherman and a member of the 1975 Carolina A's North Carolina State Champion Class A softball team. He coached Little League softball, Pee Wee football, baseball and basketball.
Larry loved the beach and fishing. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.He enjoyed life and loved his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Robbins Davis; a daughter, BreAnne Davis Walker of Forest City; a son, Laurence Brian Davis and his wife Dana, of Bostic; a sister, Jane Davis Simmons and her husband Ron, of Rutherfordton; there are six grandchildren, Savannah Davis, Lauren Davis, Jenna Davis, Christian Walker, Madeline Walker, and Cameran Walker; and many loved nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Florence Baptist Church. Dr. Bobby Gantt and Rev. John Perry will officiate. Urn burial will be at Southern Baptist Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Robbins, Joe Hartley, Chess Robbins, Don Smathers, Josh Hamlin and Ron Simmons.
The Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:45 pm Saturday in the sanctuary at Florence Baptist Church.
