J.T. Ramsey, 84

Mr. J.T. Ramsey, 84, of Golden Valley, died Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Hospice House, Forest City.
He was the son of the late Martha Self Ramsey, and grandson of the late John and Caroline Self. J.T. attended Sunshine School, he served 2 years in the US Army, and retired after 20 years of service to NC Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Brandle Ramsey; his son, Dale Ramsey and April, of Golden Valley; his daughter, Kaye Ramsey of Golden Valley; and his 2 grandchildren, Kaylen Ramsey and Reyna Ramsey.
The Funeral will be conducted at 3:00 pm Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Golden Valley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Linda Stack Morgan and Rev. Eugene Passmore will officiate. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with the Rev. Danny McNeilly officiating. Active Pallbearers are Darvi Angel, Larry Waters, Don Morrow, Roger Carter, Shane Jackson, and Franklin Harrill. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Poole, Gibb McCurry, Sherrill McCurry, Richard Hudson, and Dwight Cooper.
The Visitation will be from 6 pm until 8 pm Tuesday night at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.
