Mr. Joseph Lamer Willis, 86, of Bostic, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Hospice House, Forest City.
He was widower of Wilma Sain Willis, and son of the late Marcus and Minnie Downs Willis, and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Noris Willis and Marcus Jack Willis. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, and a member of the Fallston Lodge of the Masons. Joe was a WWII Navy Veteran, an amateur Ham radio operator, and a Hospice of Rutherford County Volunteer since 1998.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Jo Willis Kincaid and her husband Jeffrey, of Lenoir; a sister, Hilda S. Willis of Belwood; two brothers, Kenneth Willis and Cecil Willis, also of Belwood; two granddaughters, Megan Jo Holtzclaw Brooks and her husband Joel, of Ellisville, MS, and Mara Renee Holtzclaw of Morganton; there is a great granddaughter, Ella Renee Brooks.
The Funeral will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Salem United Methodist Church. Rev. Tony Moreau will officiate, and eulogies will be spoken by Rita Burch, Ann Hutchins, and Wayne Webb.
The graveside service will be held at approximately 3:00 pm at St. Peter's United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hwy. 18, Belwood, following the procession from Salem UMC.  Reid Medlin will render Masonic Rites at the graveside. Pallbearers will be Bobby Matheny, Glen Harmon, Johnny Crotts, Scott Stone, Steve Whisenant, and Larry McFarland.
The Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm Saturday in the Salem UMC Sanctuary, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
