Jasper Luther Yelton, Sr.

Jasper Luther Yelton, Sr., 74, of Golden Valley, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

He was the son of the late J.E. and Prue Parker Yelton, and was born on November 19, 1950. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Gail S. Yelton and a sister, Wanda Tuck. Jasper was a graduate of East Rutherford High School Class of 1969. He was a member of the Hollis Masonic Lodge #535 and an Army veteran, serving 24 years. He retired after working 15 years with NC DOT. Jasper was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. 

Left to cherish his memories, his son Jasper L. Yelton Jr. and his wife Jennifer, of Lawndale; his daughters, Jessica Sears of Kings Mountain, and Amber Y. Lovelace and her husband David, of Golden Valley; his loving companion of 11 years, Joyce Ramsey; his brothers, Alvin Yelton and his wife Janie, and David Yelton and his wife Ida Mae, all of Golden Valley; his sister, Judy Hinson of Cherryville; there are 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. The Rev. Steven Cooper and Rev. David Ledford will officiate. Masonic rites will be conducted at the grave. Burial with military rites rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Collin Henson, Evan Ramsey, Morgan Polly, Blaze Burton, Jay TenBroeck, and Will Partridge. Honorary pallbearers are Amber Henson, Grace Ramsey, Justin Yelton, Ian Degerstrom, J.D. Lovelace, Raylin Yelton, Baylee Short, and Marcus Short. 

The Visitation will be from 5 pm until 8 pm Monday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Masonic Homes for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565, or Fairview Baptist Church, 4350 NC Hwy 226, Bostic, NC 28018, or Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, 5083 Bostic Sunshine Highway, Bostic, NC 28018.
