Janie Brackett Sanders, 68

Janie Brackett Sanders, 68, of Forest City, died Friday, March 14, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late Curtis Hoover Brackett, Sr. and Jessie Mae Lane Brackett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Hoover "Butch" Brackett, Jr.. Janie had worked at White Oak Manor, National Textiles, and Rutherford Life Services. She was a member of First Broad Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Sanders; her daughter, Melinda Sanders Smith of Forest City; her son, John Curtis Sanders and his wife Leann, of Albemarle; her former son in law, Devin Landon Smith of Spindale; her sisters, Ethel Brackett of Forest City, and  Patsy Ann Brackett Bryant and her husband Mike of Pittsboro; her brother, Carl Wayne Brackett and his wife Dianne of Shelby; a sister in law, Brenda Brackett of Morganton; her grandchildren, Jerry Lee Smith and his wife Kristin of Concord, Devin Landon Smith Jr., and Liza Badger, both of Ellenboro; her great grandchildren, Isabella Smith and Levi Smith; and her granddogs, Dozer and Copper. 

The Funeral will be conducted at 4:00 pm Sunday, March 16, 2025 at First Broad Baptist Church. The Rev. Tripp Queen and  Rev. Jimmy Hamilton will officiate.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Jerry Smith, Landon Smith, Carl Wayne Brackett, Chris Brackett, Robbie Franklin, Jay Tenbroeck, Aaron Reynolds, and Drew Fier. 

The Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 3:45 pm Sunday at the church prior to the service.
