Jan Harrison who did not believe that you should ask a lady her age went home to be with her Lord and Savior On Thursday, September 26 at 12:30 AM.
The foundation of her life was her love for Jesus Christ and and sharing his love by helping others. Her ministry was working with children.
It began at an early age as the oldest of many cousins she would babysit late into the night as her family played Rook.
This passion turned into a career as an elementary school teacher and later a Reading Readiness
Specialist for Warren Consolidated School system in Warren, Michigan .
She was considered an excellent teacher. She was dear to her students and appreciated by their parents.
Upon moving to Mooresboro, North Carolina in 1983 she started a new chapter in her career as a substitute teacher. She decided not to go back into the workforce full-time as she enjoyed being a homemaker and heavily involved in her church.
She had the honor of caring for her parents when they moved from the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee to Mooresboro, North Carolina.
Her passion outside of her job and family was cooking, antiquing and going to trade day in Chesnee, South Carolina every Monday and Friday. Like her parents she was a garden enthusiast. She loved flowers of any kind. If she was asked what her favorite color was she would not be able to answer because she loved them all .
She is proceeded in death by her husband Don Harrison, Parents Gladys and Earl Robbins. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Jason Bedford and two grand dogs Cricket and Sunshine Bedford, her brothers and sisters-in-law Sharon and Jerry Robbins and Kathy and Jim Robbins. She is also survived by her lifelong best friend and sister of fifty-nine years Gee Gee Fox who was her faithful caregiver until the end. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A private burial was conducted at Cedar Grove Church Cemetery.
Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service was in charge of cremation service.
