Mr. James Enlo Phillips, 65, of Bostic, died Monday, July 4, 2016 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Walter Arthur Phillips and Edythe Hensley Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ruth Phillips and Billie Tipton; and 2 brothers, Franklin Alonzo, and Bobby Phillips. James was a Marine door gunner on a helicopter when he served in Vietnam. He was a great husband, father, uncle, gardener, and friend to all who loved and appreciated him.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Angela Hathcock Phillips; his son, Jeff Phillips and his wife Julie, of Sandy Mush; 4 sisters, Peggy McSwain of Hickory, Nellie Cole of Bakersville, Carol Gladdy of Beuladean, and Shirley Wilson of Morganton; a granddaughter, Alala Phillips; stepgrandchildren, Tara, Brandon, and Hunter; a brother in law, Steve Hathcock and his wife Kathy; a special niece, Frances Carlton and her husband Mark; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation will occur and a graveside service with Military Rites will be arranged in the coming week.
