Harry G. "Bud" Oates, Jr. , 83

Mr. Harry G. "Bud" Oates, Jr., 83, of Golden Valley, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Harry G. Oates, Sr. and Gertrude Dotson Oates. Bud was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church, was a US Navy Veteran; and retired from NC DOT.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Lovelace Oates; his daughter, Cheryl Oates of Golden Valley; a sister, Helen Oates Grayson of Golden Valley; his granddaughter, Amanda Hudson Hildebran; and two great grandchildren, Hayden Cole Crisp and Bethany Sierra Crisp.
The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Fairview Baptist Church. The Rev. David Ledford and Rev. John Ware will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Harold Grayson, Bob Grayson, Jon Grayson, Michael Chapman, Dale Ramsey, and Nelson McCurry.
The Visitation will be from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm Tuesday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.
