Mr. George Albert Ledford, 66, of Forest City, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 following a sudden illness.
George was born May 25, 1948 and has been a resident of Forest City for more than thirty years. He was a Forest City fixture having worked in the fountain at Smith's Drug Store for thirty one years where he was loved by the regular lunch patrons. He was a faithful member of Florence Baptist Church and an avid supporter of Forest City Owls Baseball where he could be found at every home game. George loved Forest City and the citizens of town loved George. He was invited into the homes of his friends for Thanksgiving and Christmas and enjoyed his church family at Florence Baptist Church. George also proudly served as Grand Marshall of the 2013 Forest City Christmas Parade.
He is survived by his cousins and a group of loving caregivers who have faithfully cared for George allowing him to live an independent life.
Funeral Services will be held at two o'clock Thursday, July 24, 2014 in the Florence Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tommy Deviney, Robert Hill, Larry Walker, Tommy Smith, Al Adams, and Mark McCurry.
Calling hours will be from 10 am until 5 pm Wednesday at The Padgett & King Mortuary for those wishing to pay their respects.
