Fred B. Toney

Mr. Fred B. Toney, 86, of Rutherfordton, died Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Mission Hospital, Asheville.
He was the widower of Veela Mae Toney. Fred was the son of Laxton and Leona Jones Toney and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dianne Toney Jackson; and a son, Gerald Lynn Toney. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean war; a retired truck driver, and a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sisters, Frances Smith of Morganton, and Etta Rae Hagin of Shelby;a half sister, Evelyn Jones of Hendersonville; two grandsons, Gerry Brian Toney and his wife Taria of Olin, NC, and Robert Mark Jackson and his wife Lynn, of Orlando, FL; four great grandchildren, Ethan Toney, Eva Toney, Elizabeth Toney, and Adam Jackson; one great great grandchild.
The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, September 8, 2014 at Bethany Baptist Church.  Rev. Chris Fox will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Gerry Toney, Ethan Toney, Matt Finnan, John Medor, Rhett Crummie and Reid Crummie.
The Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm Monday at the church prior to the service.
