Fred McFarland

Mr. Fred McFarland, 81, of Ellenboro, died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.
He was the son of the late Hobert and Eula Ann Crowe McFarland, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Guy McFarland, and a sister, Arrie Irene Toney. He was a longtime accounting and economics Professor at Cleveland Community College. He was a Korean Army Veteran and a member of Big Springs Baptist Church where he was in the choir and had been a Sunday School Teacher.
He is survived by a brother, James B. McFarland and his wife Sylvia, of Ellenboro; two nephews, Gary McFarland and his wife Pam, of Whitsett, and Keith McFarland and his wife Janice, of Ellenboro; a niece, Susan Edwards and her husband Steve, of Mooresville; a sister in law, Beatrice McFarland of Ellenboro.
The Funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Big Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Paul Scott and Rev. Phil Bailey will officate. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Visitation will be from 6 pm until 8 pm Tuesday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
