Don Toney, 82

Don Toney, 82, of Rutherfordton, died Sunday, August 21, 2022.

He was the son of the late Roy and Effie Toney, and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Fisher Toney; and his second wife Jo Ann Toney; and 2 children, Richard Dean Toney and Christee Lovelace. Don was a faithful member of Crestview Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and was active on the Missions Committee. He was active with the Foothills Choir and the Sounds Of Singing Men group. Don owned Toney's Gun Shop for 34 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Koone Toney; his son, Bruce Toney and wife Bonnie of Rutherfordton; his daughter, Sandra Sexton and husband Danny, of Rutherfordton; his stepchildren, Stephen, Victor(Julie), and Maresa; his sister-in-law Reba Toney; and numerous granchildren and great grandchildren.

The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Crestview Baptist Church. The Rev. Kevin Rohm and Rev. Wayne Toney will officiate. Burial will follow at the First Broad Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites at the grave. The Masons will serve as pallbearers, and Kenny Lovelace will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The Visitation will be from 5 pm until 9 pm Saturday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
