Debra Battle, 64

Debra Waters Battle, 64, of Forest City, died Wednesday, September 1, 2021.
She was the daughter of the late Jacob Weldon Waters and Mary Clonch Waters, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Alan Waters. Debra was the longtime cafeteria manager at Carver Center, and served at other schools in the region. She was a dedicated Pastor's wife and a member of Golden Valley Church.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Rev. Charles Battle; her daughter, Kyra Bumgarner and her husband Charlie of Sandy Mush; her son, Matthew Charles Battle of Forest City; a sister, Darja Leonhardt of Cary; a brother, Charles Benjamin Leonhardt III of Morganton; her grandchildren, Isobel Battle, Brantley Bumgarner, and Levi Bumgarner.
The Funeral will be conducted at 2:30 pm Sunday, September 5, 2021 at First Broad Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Battle will officiate for his wife's service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Matthew Battle, Charlie Bumgarner, Albert Petty, Jr., Rev. Tripp Queen, Jerry Hunt, and Chris Lovelace.
The Visitation will be from 4 pm until 7 pm Saturday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
