DC Bumgarner, 93

DC Bumgarner, 93, of Golden Valley, died Thursday, May 4, 2023.

He was married to the late N. Carol Brackett for 70 plus years, and was the last surviving child of the late John Henry Bumgarner and Hulda Louise Smith Bumgarner. DC was a member of First Broad Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon. He worked at Drexel Heritage for 40 years and was a former member of Sunshine Ruritan Club. DC was a Boy Scout leader and an avid gardener.

He is survived by his sons, Dayle Bumgarner of the home, and Randy Bumgarner of Sunshine; his daughters, Charlene Toney and her husband Gene, of Sunshine, Joyce Cook of Casar, and Shelly Smith and her husband Tim, of Golden Valley; his sisters-in-law, Lela Brackett and Esther Bumgarner both of Forest City, and Eva Mae Bumgarner of Bostic; his brothers-in-law, Rodger Brackett and his wife Shirley, and Bill Ellington, all of Golden Valley; there are 8 grandchildren, Chris Grayson, Justin Bumgarner, Brandon Bumgarner, Taylor B. Robbins, Kristie C. Wellman, Bryan Cook, Makayla S. Hammond, and Kindal Smith; there are 10 great grandchildren, Abbie, Mason, Aimee, Jace, Marleigh, Eliza, Charlee, Nolan, Piper, Harper and Quentin.

The Funeral will be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday, May 6, 2023 at First Broad Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Chastain will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Brandon Bumgarner, Josh Lindsey, Mason Wellman, Justin Bumgarner, Chris Grayson, and Bryan Cook.

The family will receive friends at the residence, at 3180 NC Highway 226, Bostic over the next few days, please drop in before 8 pm.
