Darl Brackett

Mr. Darl Frederick Brackett, Sr, 77, of Golden Valley, died Friday, January 21, 2011.

He was the son of the late Fred and Vonnie Houser Brackett, and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rosa Brackett Edgerton. He was a member of First Broad Baptist Church. He retired as owner/operator of Brackett-Smith Lumber Company and also was operator of Brackett Brothers Racing.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Stroupe Brackett; two daughters, Myrtle Freeman of Bostic, and Virginia Hardin of Green Hill; two sons, Darl Brackett, Jr. of Bostic, and William Brackett of Ellenboro; a sister, Carol Bumgarner of Golden Valley; two brothers, James Brackett of Forest City, and Rodger Brackett of Golden Valley; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 23, 2011 at First Broad Baptist Church. Rev. Kevin Towery and Rev. Lamar Hewitt will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM Saturday at First Broad Baptist Church, 2470 NC Hwy 226, Bostic.
