Mr. Carmen Monroe Ramsey, 92, of Sunshine, went home to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 11, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ola Mae White Ramsey. He was the son of the late Sidney Lee Ramsey and Fannie Campbell Ramsey, and was also preceded in death by his 10 brothers and sisters and was the last of his immediate family.
Carmen worked alongside his family at Ramsey's Hardwood Mill until he was 83 years old, and was also a successful farmer, known for giving vegetables and watermelons to everyone.
First and foremost he was a humble servant of God and exceptional father, loved by everyone. He was a charter member of Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church where he was a Deacon and longtime cemetery caretaker.
Carmen leaves behind his five children, his daughters Dallas Powell of Dysartsville, Jennie Mae Smith and husband Wess, of Sunshine, and Glenda Cook and husband Noel, of Casar; his sons, Monroe Carmen Ramsey and wife Alesia, of Sunshine, and Gilbert Ramsey of Rutherfordton; he also has to cherish his memory, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, August 14, 2017 at Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church. The Rev. Monty Monteith will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Keith Shore, William Smith, Timmy Powell, Tony Lovelace, Questus Trumble, and Ethan Lovelace.
The Visitation will be from 4 pm until 6:30 pm Sunday at Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church.
