Mr. Bobby Cannie "Bob" Freeman, 91, of Bostic, died Friday, September 13, 2019 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Edgar Sr. and Maude Melton Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack, E.G. Jr., Hubert, Wade, and Jim Freeman; and his sisters, Edith Freeman Toney and Emily Mae Walker. Bob had worked for many years at Logan Hardware, then Neely's Building Supplies, and retired from Henson Timber. He was a dedicated member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church where he served for 61 years on various committees and as a trustee and church treasurer for nearly 40 years. He was a faithful servant of God. He was a Veteran of the US Army WW II Peace Keeping Forces in Japan. Bob helped raise many neighborhood children, and church children over the years and truly loved his neighbors. He loved gardening and kept an immaculate yard.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lola Hutchins Freeman; special grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Penson, and Creed and Ranger Freeman; as well many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. The Rev. Greg Dickens will officiate and there will be a Eulogy by Andy Price. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Active Pallbearers are Larry Pope, Sonny Penson, Jacob Penson, Benson Freeman, Drake Johnson, Bobby Dotson, and Bryce Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers are Andy Price, Bobby Price, Norris Penson, Curtis Henderson, Jerry Toney, Creed Freeman, and Ranger Freeman.
The Visitation will be from 5:30 pm until 7 pm Monday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
