Mr. Atwell David Sanders, 90, of Bostic, died Monday, March 28, 2011 at Fair Haven Home.
He was the son of the late Crit and Toy Sanders. He was a member of Walls Baptist Church and had retired from Stonecutter. He served in the US Army Battery C 898th FA Battalion in Central Europe, Ardennes, and Rhineland. During his service in WWII, he received the Eastern African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, three bronze stars, a good conduct and victory medal.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Bradley Sanders; two daughters, Sandra Kellogg and her husband Steve, of Shelby; Linda Leich and her husband John, of Winterville,NC; a sister, Emma Lancaster of Forest City.
The Funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Walls Baptist Church. Rev. David Philbeck and Rev. Jimmy Black will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
The Visitation will be from 12:45 pm until 1:45pm Thursday at the church prior to the service. The body will lie in state during the visitation hour.
