Ms. Webber moved from Quincy Mass. to Hollis NC in 2001 to be with her sister Annemarie and nieces Barbara and Lynn. She had lived, worked and played in Quincy for 40 plus years as an employee of the Federal Government. Her duties among many were liaison to visiting dignitaries to the Boston area. She held official positions in many various organizations and was a lifelong member of the Womenâs Marine Association.
A World War II veteran, Arloa started her career in the first Womenâs Marine Platoon and was stationed at Paris Island SC. She was a radio technician and was sent on mission to gather information while posing as a tourist overseas. The Marines defined who Arloa was for the rest of her life. Wearing her winter Marine Uniform, she celebrated her 100th Birthday last February with 89 of the finest JROTC Cadets of Rutherford-Spindale High School. Later she asked how many of the cadets decided to sign up and proceeded to say âIt was good to have a party there to help them make the right choiceâ.
She enjoyed traveling the world, camping, fishing, photography, writing poetry, community service, gardening, and vacations with her sister Annemarie and family. She was always accompanied by her many faithful dogs. A true to her word, dry humor trickster, she was always surrounded by many friends. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Services will be held at Black Mountain Veterans Cemetery. TBAL
