Alfred Causby, 87

Mr. Alfred E. Causby, 87, of Piney Mountain Church Road, Bostic, died Monday, June 19, 2017.
Alfred was the son of the late Otis and Vernie Causby, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph C. Causby; a son-in-law, Troy Van Dyke; and a grandson, Jeremy Van Dyke. He was a member of Walls Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and was a longtime cemetery caretaker. He retired from textiles and had been a volunteer with Rutherford County Traffic Control.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Toney Causby; his daughter, Mary Ann Van Dyke of Bostic; 3 sons, David Causby  and wife Diana, of Bostic, Roy Causby and wife Frankie, of Ellenboro, and Dennis Causby and wife Karen, of Spindale; a sister, Nancy Ferguson of Shelby; his brother, Dan Causby of Rutherfordton; there are 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
A Going Home Celebration is planned for 11:00 am Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Walls Baptist Church. The Rev. David Philbeck will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Robbie Causby, Clint Hendricks, Eve Mendoza, Anthony Van Dyke, Chance Strorey, and Cody Causby.
The Visitation will be from 5 pm until 7 pm Wednesday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.
